Lukas Podolski hopes to compete at the very top of the Premier League with Arsenal.
New Arsenal recruit Lukas Podolski hopes to compete for the title in his debut season in England, and is eyeing a successful spell in North London.
It remains uncertain whether Podolski will line up alongside the Gunners’ wantaway captain Robin van Persie, but the Germany international is focusing on the season in hand.
“I hope we will be competing at the top of the table,” he told ESPN. “I don’t know if it will be enough for the title but I want to have a successful season.”
The 27-year-old is enjoying an extended break after Euro 2012 but is excited to meet up with his new teammates in the coming days and begin preparations for the new season.
“I’ve been looking forward to this challenge, the club and the fantastic fans for a couple of weeks now. I’m raring to go and get started on July
21st, and I hope [I’ll] have four great and successful years in London.”
