Gunners legend Ian Wright says the departure of Theo Walcott would be a “major loss” for struggling Arsenal but fears he is likely to join Robin van Persie at Manchester United in January.
Walcott is in the final year of his current deal at the Emirates with negotiations over an extension reportedly at a standstill.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says the England international will be going nowhere in January but he risks losing him for free in the summer.
Manchester United are the latest Premier League club to be linked with Walcott, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.
“It would be a major loss if Theo left,” said Wright on Absolute Radio.
“I feel that if Theo was playing at Bradford, whatever people want to say about him, he would have done something in the game.
“But if Manchester United are genuinely in for Theo, which I think has been suggested for £8m, then that’s it, he’s gone.
“For me, if he’s got the opportunity to go somewhere like Manchester United with Robin van Persie, why would you stay?”
