Arsenal’s payments to agents have jumped up by almost a million pounds in the last year, according to new Premier League figures.
The league has published details of all its clubs’ spending in that area from the period October 1, 2011, to September 30, 2012, and the Gunners came second from bottom in terms of fees spent among the top five clubs in the division last term.
Only Manchester United have spent less on fees than them and among rivals Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City – who forked out the highest amount in the country.
While the Red Devils’ outgoings to agents fell by almost a million pounds from last year Arsenal have splashed out £5,580,873 which is an increase from the £4,648,532.17 paid out the previous year.
Total expenditure on agents’ fees by all 20 Premier League clubs rose from £71,868,749.94 to £77,003,130.
