With the transfer deadline looming, London24 Sport looks at the five of the best buys of the January window so far.
Lewis Holtby (Schalke to Tottenham, £1.5m)
The 22-year-old Germany international could turn out to be the bargain of the season. Spurs swooped and signed him for relative peanuts as Schalke knew they could lose him on a free in the summer. Andre Villas-Boas has already likened him to Rafael Van der Vaart.
Demba Ba (Newcastle to Chelsea, £7.5m)
Ba-gain hunt, trumpeted the headlines, and it was hard not to argue given that Chelsea were able to secure a proven Premier League goalscorer for such a low transfer fee.
Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace to Manchester United, £10m plus add-ons)
The 20-year-old has been the most coveted young English player of the transfer window with United beating of Arsenal to sign him up, although he will not move to Old Trafford until the summer.
Loic Remy (Marseille to QPR, £8m)
QPR needed a proven goalscorer and Loic Remy fits the bill - the former Lyon forward has won 17 caps for France and scored four goals.
Moussa Sissoko (Toulouse to Newcastle, £2m)
Magpies boss Alan Pardew’s raids on the French league are nothing new and he appears to have made another top signing with reported an Arsenal target Sissoko, who made an immediate impact on his debut against Aston Villa in the centre of midfield.
Manager Arsene Wenger maintains Arsenal now have a third-place finish in their sights after relegating FA Cup winners Wigan with a 4-1 win at the Emirates Stadium - but his side could yet end up in a play-off with Chelsea for automatic Champions League qualification.
