Wenger admits Chelsea & Man City have made life difficult for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Chelsea and Manchester City’s recent progress under billionaire owners has left the Gunners playing catch up.

While big-spending Chelsea and Premier League champions City have celebrated silverware in recent seasons, Arsenal’s long trophy drought has rumbled on.

Arsenal do not boast the same resources as some of their rivals, but Wenger has come under fire for his perceived reluctance to splash out big transfer fees to replace departed stars.

Pressure is high in the wake of the Gunners’ shock Capital One Cup loss to lowly Bradford, but Wenger says he is always desperate to deliver results on the pitch.

“I always feel under pressure to deliver, always,” he told Four Four Two.

“You can only be successful if you question yourself, because the game has become bigger and better.

“With teams like Chelsea and Man City coming in, I think we have to do what we do even better.”
