SCHOOLBOY Sami Sekkoum has become the best Pokemon trading card game player in the country - and his brother Yacine isn't far behind.

The two brothers, of Ashbrook Road, Archway, defeated hundreds of other hopefuls from more than 30 countries at the world championships of the latest card game craze, based on the Japanese cartoon characters.

Sami, 15, is now ranked five in the world after playing his way to the quarterfinals of the contest in San Diego. Yacine, 14, finished in the top 32.

The boys, who go to Central Foundation Secondary School and play the game in the Holloway league, won their places at the championship after a national final in June.

Sami said: "The competition was tense. The best bit was meeting new people."

Yacine added: "I enjoyed it and had a great time.
