Muslim bank worker, 20, named among bomb blast dead
 | | Victim - Shahara Islam, 20 |
A DEVOUT Muslim girl has been named among the dead after the terrorist attacks - supposedly carried out in the name of Islam.
An extremist Islamic group with links to al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the bombs which brought death, destruction and terror to London.
One of the victims was Shahara Akther Islam, 20, who was a model Muslim and attended the mosque every Friday.
Miss Islam was caught up in the explosions on her journey into work at the Co-Operative Bank in Islington High Street, Islington. It is believed she was on the Circle Line train which blew up near Aldgate East Tube station.
The British-Bangladeshi girl symbolised the way many young Muslims embrace both western culture and their own faith.
She loved handbags, designer clothes and going out with friends and joined the bank after leaving school.
Her father Shamsul, 44, said: "These people are not human beings, they are not doing anything for Islam. They may call themselves Muslim but there is no such thing as a Muslim killing people."
Her uncle Nazmul Hasan said: "She's one of those people who just makes friends wherever she goes.
"She doesn't think that much about politics - she likes hanging out with her friends, talking and laughing a lot.
"We just want to bring her home - whether that means she's one of the fatalities or not, we just want something to bring home."
Miss Islam's family gathered at the East London Mosque to pray for those caught in the attacks and condemn the terrorists.
Worshippers at the North London Central Mosque, formerly Finsbury Park mosque in St Thomas's Road, also spoke out against the bombers.
A spokesman said: "Whoever did this should be caught and punished. Everybody is sad about what's happened - killing innocent people like this is terrible.
