Street used as 'free parking' by car firm
A CAR rental firm has landed itself in hot water for using a residential street as an overflow car park.
Staff at the National Car Rental in Pentonville Road, King's Cross, have been parking cars they can't fit on their premises four-and-a-half miles away in Mount View Road, Finsbury Park.
The Haringey street is the nearest road without parking restrictions, but the extra cars have left residents hunting for spaces near their homes.
Yvonne Seeley said: "It's always hard to park. Mostly the cars arrive on Monday morning and then leave on Friday afternoon.
"I am sure it's hard to park around King's Cross, but they are running a business."
The rental cars - mostly Vauxhalls and Chryslers - are parked on a stretch of the road between its junctions with Ferme Park Road and Granville Road.
A spokeswoman for National Car Rental said: "National Car Rental is sorry if any inconvenience.
"Limitations on bringing lorries into the capital is hampering rental firms who would previously have been able to move vehicles with greater ease."
It admitted that greater demand for weekend car rental needed to be met "without impacting the local community," and said it was investigating getting more space in King's Cross.
