A SMART-TALKING pet parrot has flown the nest - despite having his own bedroom, plasma TV and stereo at home in Holloway.

Georgie, a blue fronted Amazon Green whose favourite sayings include "walkies with daddy" and "I want my dinner", disappeared on January 8.

Now his desperate owners Joyce and Peter Mearns, from Shearling Way, North Road, have put up more than 500 posters and offered a £200 reward to secure the return of their beloved bird.

Mrs Kearns, 55, said "Georgie is priceless to us. We love him as much as our two sons and granddaughters, and he's just such a character.

"We got him four years ago after my second son left home and it's fair to say he took over our lives.

"He's got his own bedroom with a stereo and TV, and when we go out he loves listening to bagpipe music and singing along to the adverts on telly.

"He's just like another baby. Sometimes he would sit there and grizzle until you picked him up because he was too lazy to fly.

"And when we came in the front door he would shout 'Hello bubbies, where have you been? Have you been a good boy?' We are completely lost without him."

Georgie flew out of the front door and into Caledonian Park after biting Mr Mearns on the hand.

Since then his owners have trawled schools, vets and pet shops - including Cally Pet Stores where they bought him from - but still Georgie is missing.

"I'm sick with worry," said Mrs Mearns. "He's never escaped before because we were always so careful.

"The Parrot Society assures me he will survive but it's getting very cold and he doesn't like strangers.

"And I'm terrified someone might find him and not want to give him back."
