X FACTOR winner Alexandra Burke's old school has been praised by inspectors for its "high ambitions".

Copenhagen Primary School, in Treaty Street, Islington, has been rated "good" in all areas in the latest Ofsted report.

The government inspectors said: "Copenhagen is a good school with high ambitions for its pupils and itself. A real sense of purpose starts with the headteacher and governors. All aspects of pupils' development are highly valued and there is a determination to make learning enjoyable and meaningful and to provide the best for the pupils and their families."

Alexandra, who is currently celebrating the first single from her debut Album reaching number one, returned to Copenhagen School last December in the week before she was crowned X Factor Champion 2009. She sang You Are So Beautiful To Me and told the 150 pupils: "Whatever you want to be - if that's a footballer, an actress or a singer - follow your dreams."

Not every day is quite that interesting for the children, but the Ofsted inspectors were impressed by the school's "determination to make learning enjoyable and meaningful".

Headteacher Lindsey Jackson said: "We are all pleased and proud of this inspection report. Our children, parents, staff and governors all work hard and deserve this good result."

The percentage of pupils eligible for free school meals at Copenhagen is four times higher than average, and there are 19 different languages spoken in total. But inspectors were impressed by the relationships pupils formed.

Inspectors did express concerns that a small number of boys of all ages do not achieve as well as others and suggested their needs are addressed.

Councillor Paula Belford, Islington Council's executive member for children and young people, said: "Copenhagen is a good example of a school that has made really positive links with its local community and Ofsted have recognised this.
