Who's satisfied?

I AM struggling to believe that I live in the same Islington full of satisfied tenants in their "decent homes", described by Eamon McGoldrick in your letters page ("Future bright for residents", Viewpoints, Gazette, November 19).

St Peter's ward Labour councillors are constantly receiving complaints from tenants about the poor quality of "decent homes" work, especially from residents on the Popham Estate. More sinister, is that the "satisfaction survey" is conducted face-to-face with tenants, who are often too scared to say what they really think.

It is a sad reflection that it is a council officer who feels moved to write to your paper defending the actions of HfI.

But where are the Liberal Democrats who run the council? Surely they must know residents are not happy with decent homes works? Or maybe they prefer to believe their own PR spin about satisfaction ratings. - Councillor Martin Klute, chairman, health and wellbeing scrutiny committee, Islington Council, Labour member for St Peter's ward.
