There’s music, art, dance, food, sports, workshops and a parade throughout the day, celebrating the community’s contributions

The Cally Festival returns for a seventh year with their takeover of Caledonian Road on Sunday.

There’s music, art, dance, food, sports, workshops and a parade throughout the day, celebrating the contributions of Islington’s community.

First held in 2011, last year’s festival attracted more than 8,000 local residents and a similar turnout is expected for this weekend.

The Barbican drummers are leading the parade, while the Cubed Collective have put together Picture the Cally – Then & Now, looking back through the history of the area. Working with local groups, recording stories and memories from the community, they explore the changes the area has gone through.

There’s music on the main stage and world music stage, dancing from Sadler’s Wells at the bus stop dance floor and penalty shoot outs, boxing, yoga and tennis in the action zone.

The Cally Festival is a free event on June 18, 12 – 6pm, Caledonian Road.
