The woman behind the wheel of a Ford Transit that collided with the rider was “de-arrested” – meaning she was free to go with no charges being pressed – not long after the collision in Camden Road.

She had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was interviewed under caution at a north London police station.

The rider, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 6am crash near the junction with Hilldrop Crescent.

His next of kin have been notified.

Cops use “de-arresting” to mean a suspect is released before they have been processed by the custody system. By contrast, releasing someone without charge means they are only freed after they have been through that system.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is asked to call the Met’s roads policing team on 020 8991 9555 or 101.
