A 17-year-old caught dealing class A and B drugs at Wireless Festival could have faced four years in jail were he a year older, a court heard today.

He was seen by a security guard selling MDMA, cocaine and cannabis worth £860 at the Finsbury Park festival on July 9.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty at Highbury Youth Court today to possession of the drugs with intent to supply.

The prosecuting barrister said: “It’s dealing at street level, in an environment where people are having fun and it could have catastrophic repercussions.

“It is extremely serious and would attract a sentence of two-and-a-half to four years for an adult.”

The judge questioned why the case took nearly a year to get to court and was told it might have been because of collating evidence on so many different types of drugs.

The boy is said to be of “good character” with no previous convictions. The Youth Offending Service is preparing a report before his sentencing in July.
