A sixth person has been charged in connection with the incident in Essex Road where a car ploughed into four pedestrians.

A 17-year-old male from Islington was charged with aggravated vehicle taking on Monday. He was bailed to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on June 13.

The incident happened outside the Old Queen’s Head pub at about 11pm on Saturday, March 25. Three revellers – one female and two males – were hospitalised but their injuries weren’t life threatening.

Coming just three days after the Westminster Bridge attack, the smash immediately prompted fears it could be another terrorist incident, though this was quickly ruled out by the Met.

Five other people have been charged in connection with the incident. They are:

• A 17-year-old from Highbury, who is currently remanded “in the custody of a local authority”.

• A 17-year-old from Ilford and Jason Furtado, 20, of Southgate Road, Canonbury, have been remanded in custody.

• Malique Howe, 19, of Derby Hill Crescent, Forest Hill, and a 15-year-old boy from Islington have been remanded on bail.

A trial is scheduled for September 18 at Blackfriars Crown Court.
