Man jailed for plotting to sell weapons including machine guns

A man has been jailed for eight years for his part in a plot to sell live weapons, including a powerful machine gun, to other criminals.

Dyrell Nestor, 24, of Liverpool Road, Islington was one of a five strong gang caged for a total of 37 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday.

Nestor was with Bradley Buchanan and Khavi Chadee when he was arrested in a car park in Chingford, Essex, in August last year.

They had arranged to sell a gun, plus ammunition, for £7,000.

During the investigation police seized four firearms including a powerful Mac 10 machine gun, capable of firing more than 1,000 rounds per minute and a converted weapon.

Two other men, Adewole Adetunji and David Komolafe, were identified as involved with sale of firearms.

Det Insp Rob Murray, from the Met’s Central Task Force, who led the operation, said: “There is no doubt these were dangerous individuals who had every intention of selling the firearms on to other criminals to commit serious offences, and I’m pleased they are now behind bars.

The Met Police Central Task Force is committed to targeting criminal networks and ensuring weapons such as these are taken off our streets.

The sentencing today sends out a clear message to those involved in such crimes that we will do everything we can to pursue them and bring them to justice.”

Nestor was found guilty of conspiracy to supply a prohibited weapon.

Khavi Chadee 26, of Grasmere Road, Tottenham and Bradley Buchanan, 25, of Flexmere Road, Tottenham, both pleaded guilty conspiracy to supply a prohibited weapon and received six year sentences each.

David Komolafe, 39, of Factory Lane, Tottenham, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply a prohibited weapon and was sentenced to eight years.

Adewole Adetunji, 44, Bradmore Court, Enfield, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply prohibited weapons and pleaded guilty to possession to supply drugs and additional passport offences. He was sentenced to a total of nine years.
