Archant

This is the moment a moped thug threatens an Upper Street shop manager with an 11-inch hunting knife during a terrifying robbery.

Shahruk Sheraji, who is already behind bars for moped thefts, has been jailed for nine more years over the raid at the designer store in 2016.

The 22-year-old waved the weapon at the worker while four others grabbed £20,000 worth of Armani, Hugo Boss and Moncler gear.

Thirty seconds later they ran out of the shop to the three riders who had waited with the four mopeds and drove off.

Sheraji’s DNA was found on a knife sheaf he dropped in the shop.

He was arrested 10 days later after jumping off a moped during a high-speed police chase, having stolen 18 mobile phones.

His partner in crime on that occasion, Zuriel Hutson of Highbury New Park, then tried to get away from police by driving down the M11 motorway the wrong way at 90mph. He crashed and was caught.

As well as the phones, police identified Sheraji’s clothing as being the same as that seen on CCTV from the designer store.

In April last year Sheraji, of Albany Street, Camden, was sentenced to two years for the moped thefts, and on Monday at Blackfriars Crown Court he pleaded guilty to moped-enabled knifepoint commercial robbery and received an additional nine.

The other seven people involved in the robbery have yet to be caught.

Det Con Steffan Evans, of the Camden and Islington CID, said: “This planned attack at the shop left those who witnessed it feeling terrorised.”

Det Ch Insp Christine Jessah added: “A dangerous offender is off the streets and this lengthy sentence should be a deterrent to others.”

Anyone with information on the other robbers can call Central North Command CID on 0208 345 0298 or police via 101.
