A rare mini worth £25,000 has been stolen from the screenwriter of Ali G, Borat and Bruno.

The mini was stolen from Barnsbury Street in Islington on Monday.

The rare 1970 white MKIII Mini Cooper S 1275cc is one of only 1500 made. One of its most distinguishing features are the twin fuel tanks on each rear wing of the car.

Police are appealing for information and are worried the car may be sold on to an unsuspecting motorist.

Detective Sergeant Simon Whitbread of Islington CID said: “The owner is particularly upset for both economical and sentimental reasons.”

If you any information as to the whereabouts of the vehicle, please contact DS Simon Whitbread on 101 quoting ref 2711667/14 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
