The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating how the 15-year-old was hurt in the incident on December 2 last year.

The IPCC said the teenager was riding a moped in Caledonian Road, Holloway, when the officers gave chase in an unmarked Ford Focus.

He fell off the moped in nearby Market Road and began to run away, but the police car blocked his path.

The car then mounted the pavement and collided with the teenager. The 15-year-old sustained sprained wrists and cuts to his legs.

Witnesses are being urged to come forward and IPCC Commissioner Mary Cunneen said: “I would encourage anyone who was in Market Road at the junction with Caledonian Road, on Sunday December 2 at around 2pm, to speak with our independent investigators.

“Our investigation will be thorough in finding out what happened.”

Witnesses should call the IPCC on freephone 0800 096 9072.
