George Joseph, 77, stabbed his son Paul Joseph, 43, in the neck with a kitchen knife, when he tried to intervene with a fight between he and his mother.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the family home in Kendall House, Collier Street at 10pm on Monday October 7 where Paul Joseph was pronounced dead.

His father was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and was subsequently charged.

George Joseph, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of murder yesterday – following a trial at the Old Bailey.

The court heard that Paul Joseph intervened in an argument between his mother and father regarding rent. This led to a fight and ended with George Joseph stabbing his son in the neck with a kitchen knife.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on a date to be confirmed.
