Racism reared its ugly head in tweets between Arsenal and Spurs fans after Saturday’s FA Cup clash (January 4).

Among the anti-Semitic jibes aimed at Spurs fans were references to the holocaust and Nazi Germany.

The insults followed the Gunners 2-0 victory over their arch rivals at the Emirates Stadium in which away supporters threw coins at Arsenal forward Theo Walcott as he was carried from the field on a stretcher.

Tottenham fans took to the social networking site to lambast the England International who had taunted them with a hand gesture, reminding them of the score line, as he was stretchered off the field.

The Met’s football-related task force, Operation Arrowtip, is investigating the tweets but no arrests have been made.
