Dozens of people turned out for a street party to raise awareness of the cuts facing many disabled people.
The event, organised by Disability Action in Islington (DAII) and held on Islington Green on August 29, was open to all those receiving the Independent Living Allowance (ILF) and their family and friends, as well as the wider community.
The crowd was entertained by music, singers and musicians and there was also a petition calling on the Government to assess all the cuts affecting disabled people – the ILF is set to close in 2015.
A spokesman for DAII said: “It was a good day and everyone had a lot of fun – plus lots of people signed the petition.”
