The headteacher of a special education needs school will be pounding the streets of London for a charity which is close to her heart.

Deborah Shepherd decided to drum up funds for Centre 404 – a charity which has been offering support to adults and children with learning disabilities in their families for more than 65 years – because of the role it offers to her students at the Courtyard School.

Deborah has never run the marathon distance of 26 miles plus before, the mother-of-three did manage a 22-mile run around the capital in preparation for the big day last week.

She said: “I am very passionate about the charity and aware of the crucial role they play in the north London community.

“A number of my Courtyard School pupils and their families have received support from Centre 404.

“I also know that more of my pupils and their families could benefit from clubs and holiday activities, if further funding was in place.

“My aim is to raise as much awareness and money as possible in the hope that Centre 404 can continue to carry out their essential support.”
