Supervise children at all times around the barbecue

Safety guidelines have been issued by the council to anyone wishing to enjoy a barbecue
in the borough’s parks this summer.

Islington was the first borough to relax the ban on barbecues in 2011 but the town hall has issued a warning to avert the risk of fire and injury.

It is recommended that barbecues are placed on a stand in the centre of an open field and not near homes.

They also suggest taking water to put out the barbecue when it’s finished and ask those using parks to dispose of the coals and other disposable waste in the special barbecue bins.

It is advised that children are supervised around barbecues.
