Islington had the fourth highest rate of noise complaints in London last year.

With a population of 221,000, there were 10,721 complaints made to Islington Council: equating to 48 per 1,000 people. The most common reasons were music, neighbours and parties.

The figures, released today, come amid growing rumbles about the use of Airbnb in the borough. Earlier this month, we reported how 200 ravers crammed into a one-bedroom Airbnb flat in Canonbury for a “nightclub-scale” party, complete with DJ and bouncer.

And last month, Barnsbury homeowner Dionne Duncan told the Gazette how she heard everything in the Airbnb flat above her basement home – including couples having “thunderous sex”.

Today’s figures, released by noise monitoring experts Cirrus Research, put Islington behind Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Hammersmith and Fulham.
