Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to the blaze at the flat above a shop in Upper Tollington Park at about 1.25am.

The fire - which was bought under control just over half an hour later, by 2.02am - damaged part of the four roomed flat which was on the second floor of the three storey building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
