A second member of Islington’s ill-fated housing executive has quit – just two months after the panel was formed.

Susanne Lamido, the tenants’ vice champion has stepped down, citing personal reasons.

This follows the resignation, also for apparent personal reasons, of tenant representative David Mulcahy in October, leading to accusations that the new executive is already in disarray.

Brian Potter, chair of the federation of Islington tenants’ association, said: “It’s been shambles right from the start.

“It was designed to isolate tenants rather than include them an it’s totally dominated by the council.

“They need to hold their hands up and admit the whole thing was a mistake. I am prepared to have a chat with Cllr West [leader of Islington Council] about that at her convenience

The executive, which advises the town hall on housing policy, came under fire from day one, with some roles only having one candidate and only 10 per cent of the electorate voting.

Cllr Barbara Sidnell, chairman of the executive, said: “We thank Susanne for her contribution to the new resident engagement arrangements.

“We hope to announce Susanne’s replacement in the role of Residents’ Vice Champion, shortly.”
