Terrianne Baker, 45, pleaded guilty to four counts of attempting to send cannabis into HMP Pentonville – along with three other jails – between April and September 2012.

Detectives from Islington CID intercepted the letters in August 2012 and found the drug laminated into pages within them.

All six letters were addressed to prisoners and were disguised as correspondence from solicitor’s firms in west London.

By listening to inmate’s recorded phone conversations, searching their cells and examining the post mark on the letter police and prison officers identified Baker as a suspect.

They searched her home in September and found evidence she had been sending weed to convicts on a commercial scale since 2009. They tracked Baker down and arrested her.

Det Con Robert Gray, and investigation officer, said: “This investigation is a good example of the Metropolitan Police and HM Prison Services ongoing work in partnership, to tackle the problem of drugs in prisons and to bring to justice those who supply drugs to prisoners.”

Baker, of in Dell Road, West Drayton, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Courts after earlier pleading guilty to four counts of attempting to supply cannabis at Blackfriars Crown Court.
