Highbury pub which pays tribute to Ray Parlour and Alexander Aubert is recognised by CAMRA

Highbury Brewhouse and Kitchen has made it into CAMRA’s (Campaign for Real Ale) Good Beer Guide for the first time.

The pub, in Corsica Street by Highbury Corner, is the only Highbury boozer to feature in the guide, which selected the top 35 real ale pubs from 400 in north London.

John Cryne, chair of CAMRA’s north London branch, said: “The pub attracts people from all walks of life and ages.

“There is a brewery at the back where it produces its own beer, and customers can actually pay to brew there.”

All those beers have a local connection. “The Astronomer”, an American Amber Ale, is named after Alexander Aubert, the amateur astronomer who set up the Highbury House observatory in the 18th century.

There’s also the “Romford Pele”, named after Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, who graced the Highbury pitch between 1992 and 2004.
