More than £13,000 has been raised by a school to help fund activities for under-privileged children.
The parent teacher association at Prior Weston Primary School & Children’s Centre in Whitecross Street, Clerkenwell, held an auction of promises which were donated by parents, staff, carers and pupils.
The ‘promises’ included homemade lemonade and a pledge to complete a random act of kindness every day for forty days.
Co-chair of the group, Julie Riley, said: “The PTA promises to make school trips completely free - including the Christmas theatre visits. It has also pledged that no child will be left behind and excluded from the life changing extended school journeys just because their parents can’t afford it.”
Head teacher, Aaron Griffiths, said: “I am delighted with the outcome of the event and was overwhelmed by the support of the PTA, children and the community which will all contribute towards transforming the lives of our children.”
