Coaches from Arsenal in the Community, Disability Sports Coach and Impact Dance helped run the sports day which was held at Islington Arts and Media School in Turle Road.

Parent Amanda Fordham said: “It was a really good day. The staff and parents are all very accommodating and flexible to the needs of the children.”

The festival was provided through Islington Sports Academy and was funded by the council’s resident engagement team, part of the local authority’s housing department that supports community participation in a wide range of opportunities throughout the borough.

The Disability Sports Festival came about following feedback to the council that mainstream sport on estate programmes was not meeting the needs of young people with disabilities.
