A missing teenager last seen in Islington has contacted her family to say she is safe, according to her mother.

Police are still appealing for information about the whereabouts of teenager Jasmine Bouchami, who has been missing from Fonthill Road, Finsbury Park, since May 3.

Speaking to the Gazette, the 17-year-old’s mother revealed she had been staying at the Olympia House hostel in Finsbury Park where she was last seen, but is now back in south London.

In an e-mail Jasmine, originally from Walton-on-Thames, told her mother she is now staying in a “squat” in Elephant and Castle.

Mother Angela said: “She says she is okay and she’s now staying at a squat in Elephant and Castle and not to worry.

“I know that the message is from her because I can just tell from the way the e-mail is worded and the language used that it’s her.”

She added Jasmine often stays in hostels across London and has been missing before.

However, police and the family are still calling on anyone who has seen the teenager to call officers on 020 7421 0391 or Missing People on 0500 700 700.

She is described as white, approximately 5ft 2in tall with short, dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a pink jumper and baggy black trousers.
