A stuttering charity backed by Monty Python star Michael Palin has struck a deal to double donations made this weekend.
Any cash pledged to Action for Stammering Children, which runs the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children in Pine Street, Finsbury, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday will be matched by a grant-giving body.
The Garfield Weston Foundation has agreed to double any donations between £3 and £3,000 as long as there is cash left in their £250,000 pot.
Elaine Kelman, head of the Michael Palin Centre, said: “Any contribution will have twice the impact, helping twice as many children.”
Mr Palin has been associated with stammering since he appeared in the film A Fish Called Wanda as a stuttering man called Ken, a character based on his own father who suffered from stammering all his life.
