Newington Green produce show draws in huge crowds

More than 1,200 people attended a garden flower and produce show in Newington Green.

The event, at King Henry’s Walk Garden, saw awards handed to the winners of the best plot and the best container garden – as decided by Gardeners World presenter Joe Swift back in August – while a people’s plot award was decided on the day by everyone at the show on Saturday. The Whittington Steel Band led the entertainment at the award winning community garden and traditional arts and crafts were available for children to try, including soap carving and apple pressing.

One of the organisers, Rosie Lyall said: “It was a lovely day and we were very pleased with the turn-out. We hope to do the same next year.”
