A volleyball paralympian delivered a masterclass at Sobell Leisure Centre to children with disabilities.
John Worrall – who made his debut at the 2009 European Championships in Germany and has played more than 40 times for Great Britain – was appointed official patron of Club Islington, which offers paralympic and adapted sports.
“It was brilliant to be part of such a fantastic day and great to see a group of enthusiastic participants for the sport I love. Long may it continue.” said Mr Worrall.
He also presented medals and certificates to Club Islington’s participants at an achievement ceremony.
Michael Bishop, disability and sports development officer at Aquaterra Leisure said: “It is fantastic news for the young people who attend the sessions that John has agreed to become the club’s patron. It was great to welcome him to Sobell.
“This club has become an essential part of the sporting landscape in Islington and can only go from strength to strength with hands-on involvement and input from a Paralympian.”
