Police want to trace this man

Police investigating a knife attack outside a restaurant have released an image of a man they want to talk to in connection with the incident.

The victim was slashed across the face

A 22-year-old man was slashed across the face outside Mensik Ethiopian restaurant in Freeling Street, near the junction with Caledonian Road, Islington, on October 7 last year.

At about 3.10am the victim had left the eaterie and was standing against a wall nearby when someone attacked him from behind, cut his face and ran away. He was rushed to hospital to have his face stitched up.

The suspect is a dark skinned black man, of medium build and about 5 ft 8 ins tall.

Det Con Jason Cole, investigating officer, said: “I am sure someone out there saw this incident as there were a few people out and about and the victim was bleeding quite heavily from his injuries.

“I’m particularly appealing to members of the Ethiopian and Eritrean communities who may recognise this man or may have been in the restaurant at the time to come forward and speak to police.”
