Cuts to policing in Islington have been confirmed by City Hall.

From June, the borough will only have one 24-hour counter in Tolpuddle Street as part of a plan to slash £400million from the Met’s budget.

Holloway Station in Hornsey Road, the only other remaining station, will now open 40 hours a week.

Highbury Vale station in Blackstock Road was earmarked for sale last year.

Contact points, which open from 7 to 8pm Wednesday and Thursday, and 2 to 3pm on Saturdays, will be available at Goswell Road Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) base in Finsbury; International House in Crompton Road, Islington, and Blackstock Road SNT base in Finsbury Park. A fourth point is suggested for the Whittington Hospital in Magdala Avenue, Archway.

Officers will also be deployed at Holloway Fire Station, Hornsey Road.
