Islington Labour is expected to retain control of the Town Hall, where the party holds 36 out of 48 seats.

Council leader, Cllr Richard Watts, has pledged to provide every young person with a job or a place in college if re-elected.

The Liberal Democrats are hoping to retain their 11 seats and have also put forward a full complement of candidates, led by party leader Terry Stacy.

The party has promised voters it would freeze council tax, create 1,000 new apprenticeships and build safe cycle routes if elected to run Islington Council.

The Conservatives have 32 candidates standing and have pledged to give residents “value for money” if elected, as the party looks to reduce council tax.

Islington Greens, who have 48 candidates, say they are confident they can win seats and work for an economy that “puts people first” and protects the environment.

Voters will also be asked to select who they want to elect as their Member of the European Parliament (MEP).
