The Victoria Line has reopened this morning after concrete spilled into one of its control rooms last night, causing flooding and damage to signal equipment, and forcing suspension of the line between Warren Street and Brixton.

The mishap also caused problems further up the line, but this morning things are back to normal, with Transport for London reporting no disruption.

Peter McNaught, operations director for the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines, said engineers “worked tirelessly through the night” to repair the damage.

And last night London Underground’s overall operations director Nigel Holness said: “This afternoon our contractors were working on the new station in an area next to the Victoria line signal control room.

“These works involved the use of water and cement which leaked into the room, damaging equipment. This has meant there are no signals working on the southern section of the line.”
