A 60-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after a collision with a lorry last night.

The pedestrian suffered a possible collapsed lung and several fractured ribs and leg injuries after the accident outside the McDonald’s restaurant, in Highbury Corner, Islington, just after 6pm.

Both the fire brigade and ambulance teams attended and the victim was taken as a priority to the Royal London hospital where she remains in a stable condition with `non-life threatening injuries

There were no arrests, but the white Scania lorry was seized.

Highbury Corner, Canonbury Road, Canonbury Square, Upper Street and Islington Park Street were all closed for around one hour 30 minutes causing traffic problems in the area.

Brick Lane Comedy Festival cancelled after opposition from community groups

A comedy festival in east London due to feature acts including Al Murray, Alan Davies and Ed Byrne has been cancelled because of “heavy opposition from local community groups”.
