Scott Robinson had a night to remember as he won the Archway & District Darts League singles final – and beat a former world champion as well.
Robinson, who plays for Doyles B, overcame Winchester’s John Martin – a former winner of the singles competition – in the curtain-raiser to the league’s annual awards night.
But Robinson, who also won the Captain’s Cup, collected a bigger scalp by defeating guest of honour John Lowe, the three-time world champion, in a single leg challenge.
However, Lowe was still happy to hand out the trophies, with the biggest prize going to Admiral Mann B, who marked their debut season in the league by securing the championship.
The other full team award, the Knockout Cup, went to Doyles A, who also secured the fours trophy, while Royal Oak’s Natalie West was the winner of the ladies’ singles.
Old Oak’s Mick Davies was victorious in the Secretaries’ Cup, while his team-mates Chris Cahill and Steve Donsworth clinched the pairs championship.
Cahill also hit the most 180s for the season – six – while there was an impressive double from Admiral Mann A’s Mick Todd, who won the Guvnor’s Cup as well as hitting the highest finish of the season.
Daniel King-Morris from Admiral Mann B had the fewest darts required for a leg win, finishing in 13.
