Hornsey continue to battle relegation in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League following a losing draw at home against Stanmore.
Paul Weekes struck an unbeaten 75, while James Bull notched 60 and Basil Akram added 32 in a strong batting performance after Hornsey were put in to bat.
Michael Philipson added 27 and Garfield Struthers (20), Ed Wharton (17) and Imraan Mohammed (5 not out) all contributed as the home side declared on 238-5 after 64 overs.
Hornsey seemed to be getting on top as they reduced the visitors to 71-3 in reply thanks to Weekes (3-75) and Philipson (2-51) – whose victims included former Test batsman Mark Ramprakash (24).
However, Middlesex second XI player Steve Eskinazi hit 124 not out, dominating a partnership of 73 with Jimi Chialoufous (13) and then another of 59 with Talha Azam (24).
The latter pair both eventually fell to Weekes, but Stanmore’s total of 211-5 from 53 overs was enough to secure the lion’s share of the spoils and leave Hornsey with just a single point for their efforts.
However, that still took the Crouch End outfit slightly further away from the drop zone, giving them an eight-point cushion after their closest relegation rivals, Winchmore Hill, were beaten by Hampstead.
