Hornsey travel to already promoted Highgate, while North Middlesex will look to finish with a win in the Premier Division

North London will be hoping to secure a positive result against third-placed Enfield this weekend to beat the drop from the Middlesex County League Division Two.

They currently sit above Eastcote and Indian Gymkhana in the battle to stay up and will be hoping to better both their results.

North London’s survival cause wasn’t helped by a two-wicket defeat to Hornsey last weekend despite an unbeaten 60 from skipper Sam Bardon and 53 from Hussain Shabbir.

Joe Emmanuel (2-47) led the way with the ball for Hornsey, but the hosts still managed to pass 200 and reach 208-4.

Bardon’s team then had Hornsey 86-5 thanks to the bowling efforts of Freddie Issitt (2-52) and James Fell (2-42) and late wickets for Zila Jennings (2-36) and Jordan Gregory (2-28) got them close, but a half century for Tahmid Islam and 56 not out from Jack Goldberg saw Hornsey over the line.

That result was enough to secure Hornsey’s place in the division next season barring wins for both North London and Eastcote, with Garfield Struthers’ side due to face league leaders Highgate this weekend.

Meanwhile, in the Premier Division North Middlesex will look to cement third spot when they host relegation-threatened Brondesbury this Saturday.

Brondesbury will need to better the result of Southgate and Stanmore in order to maintain their spot in the top division.

Last weekend won’t go down as one of North Middlesex’s best games though as they were edged out by three runs away to bottom side Stanmore.

They were forced to bowl first and found it tough going as opening batsman Steven Reingold hit 103 and Kush Patel 50 as Stanmore posted 270-9 from their 50 overs.

Adam Price (4-54) was the chief destroyer for the away side and there were steady runs throughout the reply with skipper Tom Nicoll (45), Price (47) and James Parslow (32) all failing to kick on despite positive starts.

Patel (44) and Joel Hughes (45) got North Middlesex to within touching distance of victory, but were both victims of Marc Reingold (2-39) as they fell just short.
