It feels like a hell of a long time since we last played at Lord’s, so it’ll be nice to get back there for tonight’s T20 game.
Gloucestershire have a good one-day team, so we need to be on our A game – and of course we’ll have to watch out for our old team-mate Tom Smith.
Smudger’s a great guy, he’s done well since his move to Gloucestershire, and when you go back to your previous employers it’s always nice if you can prove a point.
Ravi Patel’s been in good form for us and it’ll be quite intriguing to see the two left-armers out there trying to outbowl each other. Hopefully we can build on the improvement we’ve shown in the last couple of games.
Generally we’ve done one discipline well and been poor at the other, but recently we’ve started to look better at putting the two together and got a little bit of rhythm going.
It’s also encouraging for the club that we’ve had two younger players – Ryan Higgins and Harry Podmore – come in and take their opportunities, performing well in pressure situations.
Talking of which, everyone at the club was really pleased to see Sam Robson get his maiden Test hundred. He works so hard and deserves everything he achieves and hopefully he can continue that form.
Sam should be back with us on Sunday for our County Championship game at Lord’s against Northamptonshire – and we need to beat them to get our campaign back on track.
You don’t need to be a genius to work out that the feeling in the camp wasn’t all that great after our last game at Trent Bridge. To give Notts credit, we thought we’d set them enough runs on the final day, but they batted exceptionally well.
If you’ve been getting hammered for four days, you know what’s coming – but it hurts a lot more when you’ve won three days out of four and you still lose the game. We need to bounce back straight away.
