Gleadow passed away earlier this month following long battle with cancer

Tributes have been paid to Pacific member and player James Gleadow, who passed away following a long, but brave battle with bowel and liver cancer.

Gleadow was initially diagnosed with bowel and liver cancer in February 2015 and fought bravely against it before his untimely death on October 12.

Before his diagnosis, Gleadow was a keen promoter of cricket in the borough of Islington, playing the game and coaching others.

Even after being diagnosed with cancer, Gleadow continued to be actively involved in the game in the borough and trialled for the Middlesex disability team.

Throughout his battle, Gleadow raised money for cancer charities and also donated to the rebuilding of Pacific’s ground at Wray Crescent.

Pacific chairman Peter Hollman said: “It was the saddest of news that reached us on the morning of October 12, that James had passed away so unfairly early with so much still left to offer.”
