Archant

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed he anticipates Friday’s reunion with former club Arsenal will be emotional.

The former Southampton attacker also insists he expects his Liverpool side to head back to Merseyside with three points.

The 24-year-old signed for Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield outfit in August after choosing not to renew his contract in North London despite being offered a higher salary than he is now on at Liverpool.

He cost Klopp’s side £40 million after spending six years at the Gunners, appearing nearly 200 times for Wenger’s team and is determined to show fans what they are missing.

However he did admit he is looking forward to the occasion with the Evening Standard reporting he said of Friday’s crunch return to the Emirates: “It will be a special occasion for me, full of emotion I’m sure.

“We’re in good form and we’ll be going there full of confidence and looking for three points.

“I feel like I’m settled in now and I’m learning the ropes and my roles and responsibilities. That’s always the thing that’s hard to adapt to. Once you get comfortable with that, you can start to relax more.

“I’ve been doing better and it has been coming, but there’s definitely more to come from me. And I’ll be doing everything I can to bring that out.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to the North West saw him struggle to adapt to his new team and surroundings – making only six starts in 19 Premier League and Champions League games – since joining Liverpool shortly after making his last appearance for Arsenal in the 4-0 humiliation at the end of August.
