After nearly four decades without so much as a glimpse Arsenal are now set to wear red shorts for the second time in two months at the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Due to a clash with fellow Wembley finalists Manchester City the Gunners are set to don the unusual strip of red shirts and red shorts.

Prior to wearing them during the 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns on New Years Eve, the North Londoners last sported red shorts on April 11, 1978 against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in a 2-1 defeat in front of 25,683 fans.

Arsene Wenger’s men would not be able to wear their light blue away kit as that would also clash with City, who will play in their home strip.

In last term’s FA Cup semi-final and also during a Premier League 2 game in August, City wore blue shorts.

When Arsenal lost 3-1 to Pep Guardiola’s City at the Etihad in November they wore their black and pink third strip.
