Bostik North club Barking FC were able to host another successful youth tournament last week in partnership with Premier League side Arsenal.

The Blues agreed a player development partnership with the Gunners in October and have been using it to good effect since.

In December, an ‘Arsenal & Barking Year Four Schools Cup’ tournament was hosted by the Mayesbrook Park club.

A total of 15 schools took part with over 150 children playing football at the club under the watchful eye of Blues chairman Rob O’Brien and Academy Director Mick O’Shea.

Arsenal head scout Martin Taylor was also present back in December along with the Gunners pre-academy coordinator Joe Sutton and another similar competition took place on Friday.

Over 80 Year Three children from schools across the Borough had fun playing in the latest Festival Cup to be hosted by Barking.

The schools to take part were William Bellamy, George Carey, Thamesview, Godwin and Beam County and over 20 six-v-six games took place.

All of the teams impressed with George Carey’s two sides reaching the final and taking the plaudits this time in the ‘Arsenal & Barking Year Three Schools Cup’.

Blues chairman O’Brien said: “Congratulations to all that took part. It was a great day and a pleasure to host.”

Gunners head scout Taylor was present again and all in all everyone enjoyed the day at Mayesbrook Park.
