Vontae Daley-Campbell: 7 – Showed good energy with forays down the flank

Dominic Thompson: 7 – Showed tenacity in defending and attacking flair in supporting more offensive players down the left flank

Robbie Burton: 7 – Worked tirelessly in the engine room of central midfield doing the dirty work which enabled more expansive team-mates to take control of the game.

Danny Ballard: 7.5 – Good to see him show leadership and issue vocal instructions to his colleagues from the heart of defence. It will be intriguing to chart his progress as a young centre-half at the club.

Zech Medley: 7 - Showed his inexperience in rashly bringing down winger Ollie Sims in the box moments after the break leaving referee Young no option but to award a penalty which Callum Jones duly converted.

Xavier Amaechi: 7.5 – Showed glimpses of quick feet but not as influential as he would like to have been but still showed his class with an powerful finish late on. Will be better for the experience.

Emile Smith-Rowe: 9 - Two goals against a dogged Colchester side were further proof if there were any doubters that this U17 World Cup winner is destined for great things needed. Clinical finish for his first goal topped by a spectacular free-kick strike for his second. Great to see his team-mates and he celebrate so joyously.

Fol Balogun: 8 – Deserved his goal as he fired home past beleaguered home keeper Harry Seadon to make it four as the Young Guns started to show their class.

Trae Coyle: 8 – Lively throughout the match and can be pleased with his excellent performance including an assist for Saka and his side’s third.

Bukayo Saka: 8 – Showed an eye for goal after slotting home emphatically for Arsenal’s third. Good all-round performance.

Substitutes:

Matthew Smith on for Amaechi with moments remaining: Not enough time to make an impact

Tobi Omole on Thompson: n/a – not enough time to make an impact

Josh Benson on Smith-Rowe: n/a – not enough time to make an impact
