Two weeks after Arsenal’s dramatic comeback in the semi-finals of the FA Women’s Super League Continental Tyres Cup, the Gunners and Reading face off yet again this weekend.

The Royals will be eyeing revenge following their late heartbreak and Sunday’s contest will be streamed live on the FA WSL Facebook page.

Arsenal will certainly be on a high after strikes from Vivianne Miedema and Jordan Nobbs saw them come from 2-1 down to defeat Reading 3-2 to book a place in the Continental Tyres Cup final.

And the Gunners’ overall form has been impressive in recent weeks, losing just once since the start of November as they attempt to chase down Manchester City at the top of the FA WSL 1 table.

Meanwhile, Reading went eight games unbeaten in all competitions after losing to Sunderland on the opening day.

But two defeats in their last two matches has seen them exit the cup and the Royals are now two points behind their opponents heading into the contest at Adams Park.

These two sides are very familiar with each other, having already faced off twice this season.

Fara Williams haunted her former club in the first match between the sides in November as the midfielder scored straight from kick-off in a 2-1 Continental Cup victory over the Gunners.

Williams had given Reading the lead on 52 minutes, before Beth Mead’s strike levelled proceedings.

But Arsenal were able to gain revenge two weeks ago as Mead, Meidema and Nobbs denied the Royals a place in their first major final.

Having already tormented her former side, Fara Williams will be out to do the same thing this weekend in the first match-up between the clubs in the league this season.

Williams bagged a brace last November, including her sensational strike from kick-off, and has five goals in all competitions this campaign – two behind top-scorer Brooke Chaplen.

Arsenal’s Jordan Nobbs said: “We all want three points when it comes to the league and I know that it’s going to be a big three points to play for us following the international break.

“The physical battles are going to be tough. We need to tighten up with the organisation and defensively, and the goals will come.

“I think that confidence is the main building block. We are in the final today and that will lead us on.”
